Trial Fitting

Just doing a little fitting on the legs.
Everything seems to be working at O.K.
so far and the Ankle Braclets I got from Jag for FREE!!! Thank you Jag!!!
The center Hydraulic seems to be off center for some reason, But I'll fix that.
This is the right leg and I'm not sure if the buttons go up front or the Hydro, So I'll have to research this problem.
Down inside the area where the Hub sets is where I'll have the steel plate. This will add even more strength to this area and there will be a steel plate under the round shoulder on the backside of the leg. So I don't expect any problems with this area not holding. Also the round shoulder will be bolted to the leg so it will also add even more strength to this area. I've got to get the mounts I need for my mill and mill the backside of the hub and the round shoulder, I'll mill the holes out alittle for the lock nuts to fit down inside the round shoulders.

BEAUTIFUL!!!!

As for the buttons or hydros in front...Don Bies standardized it as hydraulics in front (for the prequels), BUT I found a pic on the Star Wars website saying that the buttoms are supposed to be in the front...Illl try to find that pic and email it to you.

So pick a scene u like and thats the way you wanna mount his legs. ;)

I've heard alot of people asking this question. I guess its one of those things that changes in the movies sometimes. That leg looks great, cant wait til I get to that point! When do you think you'll be painting them? Cant wait to see them on your droid!!

MarkO here....

Looking "Real Good"...

Sorry, I have been away for so long.. I have not been feeling real well for a few months now, and after helping with the FRC robot at the Local Hight School, I have been very "low key" when it has come to Vex and Robotics...

You list on VexFan is real good too, http://www.vexfan.com/viewtopic.php?t=378 it explains what problems you need to solve...

Let me make some notes, and I will send you back some ideas...

I can see where all your progress is now at your wife's blog. ;)

Great work marking off that dome! Looks hard!

It was alittle of a pain.
But with the blueprints it was much easier than the 1st time.
I help her alittle, But I try to keep out of her building progress.
She has to do it herself.
Soon I'll be back to working in my R2 and hopefully get the legs done.

Hey man

You guys are making me feel guilty..I worked a bit on my feet AGAIN. This is about the third time I have tried to bondo them. I used Apoxysculpt the first times...stuff works good (kinda like clay) but hardens SO hard...tough to sand smooth. I took a crack at good old bondo last night, but it's so warm in my garage it would set WAY too fast. I ended up making a big mess, but at least I made a LITTLE bit of progress. You can see at my blog I have pics showing how the feet look and how I have an opening for the drive to fit inside (mostly covererd by the battery box).

Hey man!!! Did you forget all about your droid? Oh...I get it!!! You're addicted to Sintra now!!!! You need help!!! HAHA I been wanting to see those legs....so I can steal some more ideas off of you!!! Hope everything is going well with everything. I just got in on the hoses and knurled fittings run. I shouldnt be buying other parts right now. Since I already committed myself to this JAG frame. I cant wait to get that bad-boy!!! Now, get to work!!!!

Yeah, I need to get back to R2.
I have been helping Brenda with her R3, It must be something to do with Styrene dust that has me attached to it HAHAHAHAHA
That's allways been a problem with part runs, You get committed to 1 run and another run starts and you need that part also.:(
I'll be back to work soon.

Can't wait to see more!!!

Glad you are having success with sintra. When I made my Fett mask from a Home Depot bucket I could NOT find a glue to hold it. I see you recommend Locktite and Weld-On...I'll keep that in mind!!

Any luck with battery boxes? I coulud rework the flat patterns a bit for you..so they are in less pieces.
