Rough Cutting Panels

I rough cut some of the side panels.
These will get hinged and be able to open/close
with servos.
That area to the far right will have a red light.
I've contacted a company that has an acrylic and when its not lit it will look like mirror. which I will have to dull down alittle.
But when the light comes on, it will show red.

More Buttons

I also used the same buttons on R2.
Once I get the dome finished, I'll give it a nice cleaning
so it will shine like new.
I'm not sure what the buttons will do right now, But I'll have them ready.

R2 Computer Button

I decided to use this button for the on/off switch on R2 Pc.
The ring around the center will light up blue.
I've still alot of work to do and I have parts on order for this project, But it will get there oneday.

R2 Computer

I made some improvements to the computer Dome, Not much but alittle.
Painted the Pie Panels and got the rear logic surround in place.
This dome won't be good enough for a R2 , But for a computer its fine.
Still alot of work to do.

BOOOOSSTTEERRSS!!

Got some more parts for R2.
All ALUMINUM!!!
Boosters for the legs and the Shoulder Hubs
and the Leg Struts.

Coin Return

I also got the coin return installed and the front blue vent installed.
Slow but getting there.

Vent Surrounds

I got the Surrounds installed and once I'm finished with the front skins.
Then I will repaint the skins and install the vents in the surrounds.
Going to order the coin slots next week and install them as soon as they arrive.

R2 Outter Legs

This is how I intend to build my legs .
Not a great pic, but it will have to do.

Another Project

I purchased a plastic dome when I first started R2.
Now I have an Aluminum R/J dome.
So I decided to use the plastic dome for another project.
It will become my new Computer.
I'll paint it and add the parts to make it look like R2.
Just something to work on while waiting for parts.

Vex Layout

In the pic, You can see the front Ultrasonic. It will be used to control the front Holo.
It will provide: up/down and left/right movement when it's activated.
The Left Ultra.
It will provide: Turning the dome to the left, Then pausing for 3 seconds and return to forward view, When it's activated.
The Right Ultra.
It will provide: Turning the dome to the right.
The wheel on the top just gives me an idea of how the dome will rotate.
The 2 servos next to the wheel.
They're the ones that will move the Holo.

Vex System

Got this stuff from Radio Shack on sale 50% off, So I decided to use it in R2 for random movement of the Holo's and the Dome.

Rear Door

The coin returns are in the back door now. I made the returns myself from leftovers from the skins.
So they're not perfect, But they'll be good enough for me.
I'll put the finish paint coat on when the door is complete.

Jason's Sneeky Gift

I did'nt know these were coming in the mail, But I got a GREAT SURPRIZE!!!!
These are for the channel in the top of the Aluminum feet that Krider had built.

Restraining Bolt

I missed the run for these, But as faith be, Nick Murray had some leftovers and I got one anyway.
My lucky day!!!!

Vent Surrounds

Got the Wayne Orrs' surrounds and they're GREAT.
Can't wait to get them into R2.

Parts

I got the Utility Arms from Keith and some other parts.
I also bought the Logitech QuickCam robotic version for R2's sight.
Its pretty neat it will follow your face, So I thought when time comes it would be cool!
I've been busy buying parts for my Mini Mill, So I can produce some parts myself for R2.
It will take time to get it together, since I'm converting it to CNC.
As soon as the weather warms up I'll be back working on R2.

Got the Front

Repainted the front and got the Dome installed on the rockler bearing.
Starting to look like R2 now. Still got a lot of parts to get, But looking better!!

Getting Back to Normal

Got the rear reprimed and ready for paint.
The Gorilla Glue is working perfect, Holds very strong!!

Recovery Room

After the bad tape experiment, This's what R2 looks like now.
Looks like some serious laser damage, But it's only for a little while.

2 Steps Foward / 5 Steps Back

Ok, The tape I used to bond the skins did'nt hold as good as I needed.
So I pulled it apart and I'm currently redoing my skins.
And now it will not have the Aluminum showing through the cracks.
Back to specs for me.
The Gorilla glue works great and cleanup is nothing.
I'll post pics as soon as I get it repainted.
