Leg Update

This is how far I got this weekend on 1 of the legs. It's not perfect and I got some paint Boo-Boo's here and there. But it did turn out better than I expected it too.
Once the paint dries, I can clean out the holes in the Horseshoe and add the detail parts.
The main thing I'm glad about is: My legs are wood with a styrene wrap and I got a smooth finish. I still have to cut the line around the lower area where the Booster has a line, But I'll do that later. More work on the small details for this leg will come soon.

Great work! VEry professional!

How did you fill the corners? What paint did u use to glue the styrene on? You probably covered this in an older post...

Nice work!

The corners and the sides, When I cut the styrene I left an overhang on the entire leg. Then I cut it close to the leg with the Dremel and then I used my mouse sander to get the finish look.
There was'nt much Glazing putty work to be done, But that's what I used.
To glue the Styrene to the leg, I used counter top contact cement by 3m.
Once that stuff sticks, It does'nt come off.
Thanks, Now I got to get the other one done.

Sounds like good glue. Very nice work on the corners...I don't think I could have pulled that off.

Thanks guys!!!
I've been rel busy trying to finish R2, But the weather has turned cold again and painting will have to wait. So while it's cold, I'll be working on the servo's and Vex.

about vex... I managed to get in on those vex transmitters that a guy in the builders club is buying. My question is... about the reciever. This vex comes with a receiver but what do I connect the servos to and where can i get some inexpensive servos? I will need at least 8 to start with (4 for each r2) And if my memory is correct it doesnt come with a microcontroller. Do I really need one? I don't plan to do any programming to start with.

Cheers,
Thomas

The Vex receiver will not connect to a servo by itself. It will need a Vex micro or some brand of micro.
I have the Vex micro and it has done everything I need it to do.
But it only has 8 servo ports which will limit what you can do.
There's a group that is working alot with the Vex remote, But I'm pretty sure they are running the Vex through a Parrallax micro.
I have also connected the Ebay 12ch. remote to the Vex micro and have it working, But there again you still only have 8 motor ports.

My next newbie question is where do I get 2 vex micro conrollers? I Look on vex robotics webpages but they only come as part of a bigger kit, lol. Any suggestions :(

You can get them here:
http://www.vexlabs.com/vex-robotics-all-products.shtml

But they want $149.95 for one.
And make sure you get the Vex Micro and not the Vex Explorer.
The Explorer is a nice unit and much cheaper, But if you ever want to add sensors or other items you can not.
You might also check Ebay.
