looks great thomas! I have a little question though. Is the speed a little too slow or isnt there an actual "official" speed.

It will move pretty fast, But if I gun the remote I loose control and it hits the top of the opening.
I don't know if there's a actual true speed.

Also, If I get it too fast and a kid gets too close he'll get knocked out by R2.
That would'nt be good.(Lawsuit)
I may just keep it slow.

Haahaa... I see your point. Another question for ya. I was wondering, when artoo builders remove and attach the dome... where do they get access to the screws that attach the dome to the rockler? From the back of artoo via an access panel? Or do thet enter front the top of the dome? I'm asking because I'm trying to avoid having to have a large access panel in the back of the frame, but I'm beginning to run out of alternate ideas. I saw that Brenda is having such an access panel in back.

There's many different ways for the dome to attach to the dome ring. Most of the aluminum domes are just slipped on, it usually stays there. That's why you hear the builders cry (My dome fell off).
Some have the side panels open on the dome and they will make some type of bracket for the dome to bolt to the ring. (That's my plan)
Brenda's dome has a mount in the very top and we'll hide a bolt to it, So when she mounts her dome it will kinda screw down.

The back door is almost something you can't do without.
You'll need to get to all the batts. and electronics inside R2.
Everyone hates the door because it hardly ever fits correctly. Mine fits Ok, But hers fits pretty good.

I WONT HAVE much going on inside my R2, but I have the full sized rear panel (signed on the inside by Kenny Baker and Don Bies). Haven't mounted it yet.

For the domes I have screws that stick up through the rockler and I drop the dome on those. I then reach inside the back panel and by hand put on 3 wingnuts.

Wow...guys thanks for the info. I may have to make a panel in back it seems, but maybe just the upper 3rd part of the back. I'm not to keen on dropping my plastic dome nor having a large uneven panel in back. That should give me enough space to gain access to the inside. Another possibility is to just give up.... just kidding I'm actually enjoying this ;)
